Privacy Policy

This is a plain-language draft pending review by a qualified Nigerian lawyer. It uses NDPA 2023 framing but is not yet a finished legal document.

This policy explains what information Mefera collects, why, and what you can do about it. We've written it in plain language. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and aim to handle your data the way we'd want ours handled.

1. Who we are

Mefera ("we", "us") operates the Mefera platform. For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@mefera.com. We are based in Lagos, Nigeria.

2. What we collect

You give us: your name, email, phone number, and (for sellers) business and payout details when you join the waitlist or create an account.
Automatically: device information, app usage, and approximate location, to operate and improve the service.
From others: payment confirmation from our payment partners, and identity-verification results from our KYC providers (for sellers).

3. Why we use it

To run the service: accounts, the feed, search, orders, payments, and delivery. To keep it safe: preventing fraud, verifying sellers, and protecting buyers. To improve: understanding what works so we can build better. To communicate: launch updates, order notifications, and support, and you control marketing messages.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, such as payment processors, identity-verification services, delivery partners, and cloud infrastructure, and only what they need. We may share data where the law requires it.

5. Where it’s stored

Your data may be processed by trusted providers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure it's protected to NDPA standards.

6. Your rights

Under the NDPA you can access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. Email privacy@mefera.com and we'll respond within the timeframe the law requires.

7. Data retention

We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it.

8. Children

Mefera isn't intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

We'll update this policy as the product grows and post the new version here with a revised date.
