Terms of Service

Last updated: Draft · to be dated on publish
This is a plain-language draft pending review by a qualified Nigerian lawyer. It describes a marketplace/escrow model and is not yet a finished legal document.

These terms govern your use of Mefera. By joining the waitlist or using the service, you agree to them. We've kept them readable, but they're a binding agreement.

1. Who can use Mefera

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. You're responsible for keeping your account secure.

2. What Mefera is

Mefera is a marketplace that connects buyers and independent sellers. We provide the platform, payment escrow, and tools, but sellers, not Mefera, are responsible for their products. We don't own or hold the inventory listed.

3. Buying on Mefera

When you place an order, your payment is held in escrow. We release it to the seller after your order is delivered and confirmed, or after the auto-confirmation window passes without a dispute. If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute and we'll help resolve it under our buyer-protection process.

4. Selling on Mefera

Sellers must verify their identity (KYC), list products accurately, fulfil orders, and follow our policies. We charge a commission on sales, disclosed before you list. Payouts are made to your verified account after escrow release.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Mefera to break the law, sell prohibited items, infringe others' rights, defraud anyone, or abuse the platform. We may suspend or remove accounts that do.

6. Payments

Payments are processed by our partners (such as Paystack and Flutterwave). By transacting, you also agree to their terms. Prices are shown in Naira unless stated otherwise.

7. Content

You keep ownership of content you post, but grant us a licence to display it to operate the service. Don't post anything you don't have the right to.

8. Our role and limits

Mefera acts as an intermediary. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for disputes between buyers and sellers beyond our buyer-protection commitments, and we provide the service "as is" while we work hard to keep it reliable.

9. Suspension & termination

You can stop using Mefera anytime. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms or pose a risk to others.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We'll post changes here, and significant ones we'll tell you about directly.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
